Majordome

Majordome is a project aiming in revisiting the outdated ‘valet de nuit’.

That old piece of furniture was designed to carry the clothes worn during the day or to prepare the essentials for the next day. After the analysis of the outdated piece of furniture, the project continues by redefining a more precise design brief targeting a younger public with specific needs.

Majordome is a revisited version of the ‘valet de nuit’ designed for students and young adults living in a small apartment.

By its low-cost standard materials, its simple assembly system and its space saving, Majordome, the revisited ‘valet de nuit’, is a piece of furniture perfectly adapted for student housing. The coloured lacquering on the more often used parts allows the furniture to last longer as well as highlighting the main functions offered by Majordome. The wood unit can be used as a bed side table storing personal belongings, night light and alarm clock. The spinning tray allows to easily find the essentials for the day: watch, keys, phone,… Clothes can be hung on hooks or on the tray handle.

Majordome acts as the central piece of funirture in the apartment.
