D'ome

2018

D’ôme is a portable light designed to match Lexon’s universe. After an analysis of the existing portable lights, other products sold by Lexon, their evolution, and prices, starts a creative phase inspired by the Ready Made. The development aims in a work of details: textures, colours and grip.

D'ôme is a ‘take away lamp’ that gets the users physically involved in the adjustment of light by superposing the covers. Composed of a torchlight and two covers, D’ome is meant to be used as a night light on the bedside table or as a torch light during the night time. A flat and textured surface stops each dome from spinning and helps the user grabbing the dome and picking it up. The switch is a clicker reminding of a reception bell. This playful light returns to a known gesture to switch on and off the light.

The layers like an onion instinctively incite the overlay. The only coloured details are the switch, the drawer for the

lens and the bottom ring of each dome which induce the gesture and the function.

The lack of complex technology brings back poetry in the product and its use. Like a friendly curvy light, D’ome will accompany the user in its night routine.
